Moon woman gets probation for false tax return

Sunday, August 3, 2008

A Moon woman has been sentenced to 24 months on probation for her conviction for filing a false income tax return.

U.S. District Judge Gary L. Lancaster imposed the sentence on Christine Crossey on Friday.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary McKeen Houghton, Crossey was the payroll clerk of Ace Tire and Parts Inc., an autoparts and repair business in Coraopolis. During 2001, she received a large amount of cash as part of her wages, from which employment and income taxes were not withheld, Houghton said. Her gross income reported on her income tax return did not reflect the cash payment.
