Do you love history? By becoming a Volunteer, YOU can help to preserve the past. Share the story of the Harmony Society who lived at Old Economy Village over 100 years ago. Learn more about Volunteer opportunities at a Volunteer Open House, Wednesday, February 20th at 7 p.m.
Experience is not required! Volunteers are trained by site staff in the areas of museum education and interpretation, school tour programming, collections work, gardening and preservation maintenance. Seamstresses and knitters are also needed. If interested in learning more about the Volunteer program at Old Economy Village, or to sign up for the open house please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at
(724) 266-4500, x108 or ra-oldeconomy@state.pa.us. Training for new volunteers will occur in the beginning of March. Those interested in volunteering but unable to attend the open house must put in an application prior to training for consideration as a volunteer.

Economy, a National Historic Landmark site, has 17 restored structures furnished with collections of the Harmony Society, a German immigrant group known for its industrial prosperity in textiles and manufacturing, railroad investments and winemaking. Visitors may encounter traditional tradesmen, perform historic chores and view formal gardens, original paintings, tools, books and furnishings. The Visitor Center offers guests an orientation film, exhibits and the museum store.

Old Economy Village is one of 26 historic sites and museums on the Pennsylvania Trail of History®, administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. The Village is conveniently located just 4 miles north of Sewickley on Route 65 in the newly designated Preserve America Community of Ambridge.
