With the signing window for college prospects open once again, two Moon volleyball players made decisions on their future official.

Brianna Razete and Jess Pattyn, part of Moon's 2006 WPIAL championship team and seniors on last year's Tigers squad, both signed a National Letter of Intent last week -- Razete for Charleston Southern on Wednesday and Pattyn for West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday.

The signings brought a smile to the face of Moon coach Jason Ferri, who was on hand to see two more of his former players receive volleyball scholarships.

"Most girls usually start pretty young, but both Brianna and Jess came to us in ninth grade as raw, athletic girls with a lot of natural ability," Ferri said.

"My goals when I came in as a coach were to win the WPIAL, make it to states and create a program that can help girls get to play in college. We still have a lot of good kids in our program, and hopefully that will continue."

In Pattyn, Ferri says the Division II Bobcats have a player than can contribute immediately as a right side hitter.

"Both girls have a lot of heart and a lot of drive. Jess was a three-year starter for us and went from ground zero to contributing to a championship team," Ferri said.

Razete, meanwhile, joins a Division I program that Ferri says should suit her perfectly.

"Brianna was lucky to find a good fit for her. She's a quick jumper and Charleston Southern likes to run a very fast offense that should suit her," Ferri said.

By signing with Charleston Southern, Razete becomes the fourth Moon player in the last three years to receive a Division I scholarship.

Last year, Lauren Fanelli (Colorado) and Lindsay Kresch (Northwestern) both joined major conference programs, while in 2006, Kayleigh Knerr enrolled at UNC-Greensboro, part of the D-I Southern Conference.
