Tigers earn top finishes at MAC Championships

Moon's boys and girls track teams got their first preparations for the postseason on April 23, competing at the Midwestern Athletic Conference's Track & Field Championships at Mars High School.

Both of the Tigers' teams are playoff-bound once again, and the girls showed why with a runner-up team finish behind Hopewell at MACs.

The Tigers had the first-place finisher in two events: Layne Baggett in the 100-meter hurdles (14.79) and Tori Pritchard in the triple jump (36'1/2").

Also picking up top-three finishes for Moon were: Alexis Thomas in the 400-meter run (3rd, 1:00.72), Paige Bedner in the 800-meter run (2nd, 2:23.98), Kristen Ray in the 1,600-meter run (3rd, 5:29.0), Baggett in the 300-meter hurdles (2nd, 46.53), Jordan Calabria in the discus (3rd, 106'4") and Allison Sherman in the pole vault (2nd, 8'6").

The Tigers' 4x400 relay team also placed second (4:11.80).

In the boys events, Moon had just two top finishers. Ray Fisher placed third in the 200-meter run (22.91), while Ryan Mischler was also third in the 800-meter run (2:04.19).

Moon was scheduled to travel to North Allegheny last night for the WPIAL Class AAA team semifinals.

The boys were to face the host team and West Mifflin in their three-team semifinal, while the girls were drawn against NA and Mars in their semifinal.
