Holiday wreathes purchased

Christmas is still almost 10 months away, but Coraopolis Borough Council is starting to prepare now.

The board voted unanimously last week to spend $11,039.50 to buy 57, 40-inch, lighted, weather-resistant wreaths to attach to the borough's new light poles.

However, it is hoped that residents, businesses and/or organizations will purchase wreaths in memory of a loved one or just to help out the town to defray the cost.

Some of the wreaths, which have a five-year warranty, already have been sold. Cost to buy a wreath is $193.67, which Tom Cellante, borough manager, said is a reduced price.

He told council that the wreaths must be purchased soon to get the sale price. Normally the wreaths would sell for about $270 each.

The process for the wreaths began last year as Helen Manna began taking orders for them, but "we ran out of time," Cellante said.

She already has about 12 orders for the wreaths.

Those who would like to order a wreath can call Tom Cellante at the borough building at 412-264-3002.
