Gateway Newspapers' Kennywood Park coloring contest

Calling all kids who entered Gateway Newspapers' Kennywood Park coloring contest.

This coming Sunday, July 1, is your day at the park. All those who entered the contest can get into Kennywood at a reduced ticket price, beginning at 10:30 a.m. In fact, admission for contestants and two guests will be $10 each.

All the entries will be at the Celebrate America Headquarters, and they can be redeemed there for the discount ticket price.

At 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, the contest winners will be announced at the High Dive Platform. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in the three age categories.

In addition, all winners will receive free admission to the park and have their picture taken with Kenny Kangaroo. The winning entries will be displayed throughout the week at the new guest service center.

Following the award presentation, The Pirates of Kenny Cove High Dive Show will perform. The show is fully costumed and choreographed with background music and small pyrotechnic special effects.

Afterward, winners and all contest entrants are invited to participate in the 6 p.m. parade as part of the Celebrate America festivities.

The week-long salute to the red, white and blue, which continues through Friday, July 6, includes many special events, such as tents housing artisians, bands playing patriotic music, mimes and jugglers roving the park, and fireworks ending the day.
