Fencing may help keep balls inside the park

To help solve the problem of stray balls causing damage to cars and homes near Mayernik Park, Neville Township Commissioners voted last week to spend $2,840 for additional fencing.

Allegheny Fence will supply a 36-inch-high fence with a lifetime manufacturer's guarantee. Rail stiffeners and removing the old fence are extra costs.

Last month several Neville residents told commissioners the problem of balls being hit out of Meyernik Park and causing damage to cars and homes in the area never seems to get solved.

Although the height of the fence there was increased by 8 feet last year, residents said it is too short.

Rick Rutter, commissioner chairman, said there is money in the budget this year to extend the fence.

Denise Moore, township secretary, said there is $5,700 budget for a new backstop and $3,800 for fencing.
