The rainy sky cleared just in time for Saturday's first performance -- the solo flight of an F-15 -- at the Wings Over Pittsburgh Air Show.

"I'm trying to tell if it is breaking the sound barrier. There's white vapor around the plane if it does that," said Sam Holyfield of Clarksburg, W.Va., who attended the show with his son, Elijah, 13, who is thinking of joining the Air Force.

For about 20 minutes, the F-15 spun and twirled at breakneck speed before it flew straight up into the sky and entirely out of sight, the Pittsburg Trib reports.
